We now specify Teijin aramid in every cut-resistant garment contract where traceability matters. The contracts include the fiber brand or an approved equivalent, the test method reference, and a delivery date with a penalty clause. Is it more work? Yes. Does it cost more? Sometimes. But when you are up against a deadline, an uncertain cheap option is more expensive than a certain reasonable one.
A guaranteed date is a spec. "Probably" is not.
Honestly, I'm not sure why some vendors quote aggressive lead times they can't hit. My best guess is they hope the order moves through before the customer notices. That's not a supply chain strategy. It's a gamble with someone else's timeline. We don't gamble anymore. I didn't write this to scare anyone away from smaller suppliers. We still buy from them for non-safety fabrics. For aramid, though, no paper trail means no purchase.
